Hello! I’m Rachel, a web designer and small business owner passionate about helping other small businesses enhance their online presence through impactful websites.

Before diving into the world of design, I was a researcher and a self-proclaimed data nerd. My work now revolves more around graphics than numbers, but my evidence-based approach remains at the heart of what I do. Effective websites aren't just about looking good—it’s about what actually works.

The problem:

Originally designed as a personal blog, Harry's previous website didn’t align with his professional goals and was not attracting potential clients for his freelance services.

The solution:

  • Complete website redesign with a focus on portfolio images and videos to demonstrate the quality of Harry’s content creation work effectively.
  • Brand logos and testimonials from clients to emphasise social proof, build trust and credibility, making it easier for businesses to recognise his expertise.
  • User-friendly, responsive design prioritised because the website is likely to be viewed on mobile due to the industry.

The problem:

Euroutes, a newly established business specialising in travel guides needed an online platform that could facilitate both eCommerce transactions and blog content. Ultimately to drive traffic, engage customers, or convert visitors into buyers.

The solution:

  • I developed a Shopify website with a focus on eCommerce functionality, content-driven SEO, and an optimised layout including prominent customer reviews to build trust and boost conversions.
  • Created detailed product pages with high-quality photos and an in-depth "About Us" section to highlight the founders' experience and product quality.
  • Integrated a blog feature for regular content publication to improve SEO and attract organic traffic.

Figma Prototype website design for countryside escape the Apple Shed

The problem:

The Apple Shed, an established countryside accommodation listed on Airbnb, could reduce their reliance on third-party booking platforms and avoid the associated commission fees with a website. The existing reliance on third-party listings limits their ability to fully control the booking process and maximise revenue.

The solution:

  • I designed a new website prototype using Figma, focusing on highlighting the key benefits and features of the countryside accommodation.
  • I prioritised an engaging user experience with rich visuals and compelling content to capture the essence of staying at the property.
  • Integrated a booking system directly into the prototype, giving owners full control over reservations and offering guests a more direct and personalised booking experience.
